Meeting Summary
The 2023 Atlantic and Gulf Seafood Technology Conference brought together researchers, industry professionals, extension specialists, government representatives, and students to discuss emerging challenges and innovations in the seafood sector. Over two days, attendees explored a wide range of topics, including climate change impacts on seafood production, seafood safety and public health, FDA regulations and traceability requirements, aquaculture nutrition, seafood sustainability, value-added processing, shelf-life extension, consumer acceptance of novel seafood products, and workforce training initiatives. The conference featured keynote presentations, scientific research talks, student presentations, networking opportunities, a poster session, and an industry-focused business meeting. Participants also had the opportunity to tour the University of Miami Experimental Hatchery to promote collaboration and knowledge exchange among stakeholders dedicated to advancing the future of aquatic foods and seafood technology.
